Skin damage from the long-term use of steroid-based or other toxic creams (e.g. hydroquinone, monobenzone, mercury) can be distressing. They can include thin/fragile skin, hyperpigmentation, dark marks, nerve damage and changes in texture.
However, with time and patience, there are ways to reverse the damage and restore your skin to its original health.
Our organs (including the skin) are resilient, and if we give it what it needs, it can slowly heal itself.
To support skin healing from the bottom-up, the first thing you can do is clean up your diet and lifestyle as much as possible.
Change your diet to include more fruits and vegetables. Read up on the healing benefits of an alkaline diet as well as raw fruits/vegetable juices.
The second thing you can do is to apply healing, penetrative oils on your skin every day (such as cold-pressed castor oil, extra virgin coconut oil or olive oil).
Castor oil is one of the most healing oils there is. In fact, castor oil can be especially helpful in treating chemically-damaged skin as it has the ability to draw out toxins and penetrate deeply into the skin.
Read more about castor oil
Other beneficial healing oils include shea butter, Vitamin E oil, cold-pressed coconut oil (EVCO), and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).
Any oil you use should ideally be cold-pressed as it would retain more nutrients and not contain any chemical preservatives.
However, for this to work, patience really is key. It could take several months to a year of daily applications of oil to get results.
As appealing as they are (and I definitely understand this feeling), quick fixes are unlikely to restore your skin. And any results you get from a ‘quick fix’ will likely prove disappointing or be temporary at best.
In the case of deeply damaged skin, I believe slow and steady really does win the race. It might help to know that the damage was done over a long period of time, so healing will also take time.
My girlfriend tried using a moisturizing scream I recommended her, and it led to a serious breakout of rash and acne on her face; her skin became comparatively much more darker and ugly. Naturally she is very fair. Today, we were discussing the whole event, so I asked her what cream she is now using. She said she’s presently using the cream she was applying on her body prior to my recommendation; She mentioned the name to me, and behold it’s a lightening cream. It was sheer ignorance on her path considering the fact that she is very fair naturally, and it was because of her natural fairness I didn’t suspect she is bleaching. Now, she want to put a stop to using the cream, and lightening creams in general, after I educated her on the horrible side effects of prolonged bleaching.
What steps would you suggest? We are desperate for a solution.
Warm regards.
Hi Frank, you can try the steps listed above, and give healing time to work. It’s really good that your gf has stopped using the creams. Now its time to focus on her health, from the inside out. Over time, I believe the skin damage can be reversed.
I would also suggest giving her your emotional support and try to take her attention away from her skin. She is not ugly, and neither is her skin no matter what.
Remind her why you love her, and that she’s valuable and precious no matter what her skin looks like. This is true for every person, including her. You may need to reassure her again and again, but it’s worth it.
I would want for her to also — if she’s open to it — do the inner work required to look inside herself to understand why she believes she was not good enough as she was. That is the more important issue IMO, and deserves all of her attention and care.
I believe it’s so important to start on this path or at least consider that we may be carrying damaging and untrue beliefs in our hearts and minds about ourself — for instance, things like childhood trauma from abuse, neglect, and not receiving what we needed as children (comfort/unconditional love) can create deep shame which becomes a part of our identity and core belief as adults.
And that misguided core belief of shame and not being good enough/less than other people can lead us to do things that may seem irrational or illogical, like using harmful products and going for plastic surgery when there’s really nothing wrong with the way we look. What can seem like irrational behaviour or ignorance to others can feel like doing what we need to do in order to survive in this world, as shame can do that to a person (feeling like we’re not good enough can literally feel like life or death to those of us who have shame as a core belief of our identity, as opposed to having shame merely as a passing emotion). If people knew the damage this does to ourselves, they would invest their time, courage, effort and attention to find ways to unpack the undeserved shame/complex trauma issues and start to heal them.
I’m sorry that this is rather long, but I hope you can sense my good intentions.
All the best to you both,
Hessa
Hi gud afternoon sir, thank u for the helpful advice given to us especially me i ve been using bleaching cream for a long period of time to the extent of damaging my skin my skin totally lost his texture, i have stop bleaching since last year, and no improvement, until I come across of post, I choose one of ur healing products that’s coconut oil, since I have started using coconut oil my skin start changing, but the problem I have is the coconut oil is lighting my skin, and am the one that makes it by self, please help me should I continue using it oh I should discounted ? Thank for taking ur time to read my post.
Hi Felicia, really sorry for the late reply. I’m not sure why the coconut oil that you make yourself would be lightening your skin. But if it’s not distressing to you and if the oil is good quality and pure, I doubt that this is harmful to your skin. Could it just be an old tan that is fading?
Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
Hessa
Hey Hessa
I’ve read through almost all the articles one after the other because of the state of my skin. Everyone keeps asking what happened to your face and it’s really depressing.. I want to start on Castor oil and Shea butter application but I’ve also heard that butter and these oils cause breaking out and acke on their own which I’m already suffering from.. Pls what do you suggest
Thanks so much for this platform too ur doing a really nice deed for us
Hi Stella,
I’m really sorry that you’re going through this. I can imagine how distressing it is.
I hope you don’t mind if I diverge away from answering your question immediately by saying something else first.
Sometimes seemingly difficult things in life happen not *to* us, but *for* us.
It may not feel like it right now, but this could be an opportunity for you to grow and strengthen your sense of self-worth within. I know this is easy for me to say, and hard to actually do, but I still felt I had to say it. One way to do this is to focus on the good in our lives. For instance, when I feel bad about myself, it helps to think that while my health may not be what it used to be, I am blessed with my eyesight, legs and arms that allow me freedom of movement, and a roof over my head. All of which and more I would be lost without. In this way, I lose my focus on the reasons why I should feel bad and I pivot to feeling very lucky and blessed instead.
And I believe that people who truly care about us will not mind the state of our skin at all — and the ones who do mind? Well they don’t really matter do they (why would their words matter when they do not have our best interests and feelings at heart?).
Yes, some people may ask you questions out of simple curiosity (not meaning to cause you pain), but once you give them a stock answer that you’re comfortable with, they will move on to other things like children will. And you’ll be more prepared to answer anyone else’s curious questions in future and feel less traumatized by the prospect when you already know how to respond (with a stock answer).
I say all this because if you embark on the healing oils route, it could take months and up to a year even to see results.
And in that time, I would not want you to feel bad about yourself and depressed throughout, as you are a valuable person and there is already much suffering all over the world.
As to your concern about how oils will cause acne, I have not had that experience myself so I cannot speak to that.
You may have heard it from people who have used overly-processed oils — these are not the same as pure natural healing oils.
For instance, good cold-pressed castor oil or pure natural shea butter (you know shea butter is natural when it is solid at room temperature and will melt only when applied to skin) will not contain additives, chemicals, fake colours, synthetic scents etc, nor have they been processed to be in liquid form when they are naturally solid at room temperature (e.g. coconut oil that has been fractionated will be in liquid form, but most people don’t know this as the market is flooded with brands that sell liquid coconut oil that is touted as “natural” wrongly. Whereas ‘virgin coconut oil’ which is not heavily processed and remains natural will be solid or semi-solid at room temperature, and totally solid in the fridge, and requires heat before it melts).
These significant differences are why true and pure natural healing oils like cold-pressed castor oil or pure natural shea butter are gentle, non-toxic and non-comedogenic (will not clog pores).
But still, there is only one way to know for sure. Rather than listening to others or me, at some point you will have to try it yourself and see its effects on your own skin.
My suggestion is that once you are able to get a good natural healing oil, you could lower the risk by only applying it to one small part of your skin at first and seeing if there’s any acne forming there over the next few days. That’s the only way to know for sure as all of our skin is different. You could maybe just buy a small jar or bottle first since you’re merely testing it before deciding to use it properly over a long period of time.
I wish you all the best and sending love your way,
Hessa
Hello Hessa. I don’t know if you’re going to see this but I hope you do. First of all I want to say I am so grateful for this website you have made to educate people like myself on these topics that are not spoken about. You take time out of your day to help people with their problems. Thank you for doing this, I’m so appreciative. Now, I’m an 18 year old boy who used to hate his skin. I am naturally a dark skin person and all my life people were hating me for it and tempting me to bleach. I finally gave in due to this self-hate, and started using harmful creams. The first cream I used was NovaClear Whitening lotion. I don’t know if it has hydroquinone in it or not, but it basically did nothing to my skin. I then started to use Fair And Lovely. Then I kept going, I used Clairemen Lightening Cream For Men. I saw a slight difference, but I still wanted to be lighter. I then used something that changed everything and my skin. I used BioClaire. Bioclaire says on the package that it has no hydroquinone in it at all. I don’t know if they’re lying, but I have heard they have mercury in their products. I used the face cream, the body cream and EVEN THE SOAP. After only a couple of days of using these creams, there was a massive difference and i was so light. I eventually stopped after realising the beauty of melanin, and my skin went through such an ugly phase, it was dirty and grey and very dark, and I heard these are the stages your skin goes through before returning back to normal. I went through heavy depression thinking i’d never get my natural skin back. I now use shea butter on my skin and have a strict skincare routine of retinol, vitamin C, black african soap, castor oil, shea butter and lactic acid. I have regained some of my melanin back but I still feel as if there is damage to my skin. I need to know if i will ever return to my natural skin color if i keep doing what I’m doing. If you managed to read all of this, I’m so thankful.
Hi Jamie, first of all I’m very glad you find the site helpful. Secondly, I’m sorry you had to go through that difficult time of depression, but I’m happy that you love the skin shade you were born with now. It’s a wonderful thing, when we accept and appreciate ourselves (speaking from my own experience, the struggle and burden of hating ourselves is not only useless, but truly exhausting).
About your concerns, I think it’s a very encouraging sign that some of your melanin has already returned. I believe if you keep up with your healthy habits, it’s just a matter of time before your skin returns to its original state. The hard part is keeping the faith (as we are human), but you already have good solid evidence that it’s working. So try to focus on the good and live your life as peacefully and happily as you can, as time will go by the same whether or not we are anxious about something, so why choose it, right?
The skin also renews itself only once about every 28 days, so try to keep that monthly cycle in mind instead of counting the short days. It could take up to a year to fully restore your skin, but it would be a complete and true healing from the bottom up. Cellular damage takes time to heal and the skin knows what to do. If you’re keeping a healthy diet and getting enough sleep, that will also help tremendously. You can also try some gentle exfoliation once or twice a week — this could increase blood circulation to the skin and also make the shea butter etc that you’re applying be absorbed more fully at the same time.
I truly wish you all the best and good luck!

hi, i have noticed skin thinning recently on my hands, my veins are more visible and my knuckles appear black too. I changed my cream to HT 26 caviar multi lightening body lotion for about 10months now from doctor clear. should i stop using that cream? I want to know if it the cause of the change. Also the skin just beneath my eyes appear dark and vey thin making my eyes look dull always. how do i deal with that…..i have been using all the natural oils for over a year now but i have not experienced much progress. i also seem to have permanent darken toes on my feet. Now my main concern is to continue or discontinue using HT 26 caviar multi lightening body lotion? if yes which natural milk cream for a clear brown skin will you recommend? i also take lots of collagen supplements and vit c tablets…..is it fine to continue with them?
Hi bella, I’m not familiar with that lotion and information online about it seems very dodgy.
Since you’re seeing bad effects, then I hope you will stop using it.
Thinning of the skin should definitely not be happening unless the lotion contains chemicals like steroids. Long-term use of products with steroids can also lead to visible veins, like what you report seeing.
This site has plenty of information about safe and unsafe methods of skin lightening. Perhaps you could explore it for some ideas.
If I can give you some advice, it would be to stop using all skin lightening products on your skin immediately. Try to approach your health and well-being the same way you do for your loved ones.
I know how distressing it is to see the effects from the lotions you’ve tried, and I’m sorry for that, but the answer is not to look for more lightening lotions and creams. That is what started the problems in the first place.
p.s: I doubt applying healing oils while also continuing to apply damaging chemicals will work. Healing oils are not a quick fix.
All the best and much love to you,
Hessa
Hi Hessa,
I’m ishu. I used a bleaching cream named O white for 9 months and stopped using it 2 years ago. My skin has partially healed but still have dark scars caused by the acne i got after using the cream. I still feel like my skin has not returned to its normal state yet. I really regret using that cream because I had a very clear skin even though its dark. I want to know whether this damage is reversible. Will my skin get back to its original state with time because i’ve seen articles saying that skin damage caused by bleaching cream is not reversible. Please tell me. I’m really worried about my skin now.
And I don’t know if O white contains mercury. Does it?
Hi Ishu, I’m glad you stopped using O White because it contains mercury. And thank you for mentioning the cream, I’ve added it to this list now.
I believe scars can heal with time and patience. Read up on the links provided in this article, and it may give you some encouragement. Ask yourself if a deep burn scar can be healed over 9 months, then why not acne scars? Damage is damage, and our skin knows how to heal itself.
In the meantime, try to add more fruits and vegetables in your diet if you’re worried about mercury in your system. Certain vegetables can help to chelate mercury slowly.
All the best,
Hessa
Hi. So I was using a cream early this year on my face and it ended up giving me green veins around the corner of my eyes. I used to peel off the skin where the veins were but it still turned out the same way. Now I started applying a face repair cream to it and so far, I haven’t noticed any results! Could it be because I used to peel of the skin before or it will just take a little longer to heal? Thanks as I wait for your response in advance!
Hi Stephanie, if it’s not so noticeable, perhaps only time will naturally repair your eye area? It’s not clear what was the cream or peels you used. But if the cream contained steroids, the green veins could be a side effect from their long-term use (e.g. thinning of skin and visible veins). If yes, then please stop using it.
You may need to be very patient. I don’t know what a repair cream can do to thicken skin. But if it’s not working, you may want to try healing oils and improving your diet so your skin can rebuild itself from the bottom-up slowly (i.e. add bone broth for the collagen and nutrients, Vitamin C daily, more fruits and vegetables). Neither are “quick fixes” so patience is key.
Be well 🙂
Hessa
Hi, I started using b.b clear cream over a month and first my face was red and they it became discolored and started peeling off….soon I noticed I got chemical burn all over my face….this patches are very dark it’s really making me depressed…..I hav stopped using the cream for a whlile now and not much has changed….I use aloe vera, honey , olive oil but not much difference my face is extremely lighter than my body and alot of scars and hyperpigmentation….what do I do?
Hi Jay Rose Britz, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I can imagine how distressed you feel.
I would say do keep up with your olive oil treatments daily, and be patient.
The damage you describe sounds like it will take time to heal. Give it at least months before you decide whether there are any improvements or not.
Try to take care of your health as well, and take small steps to tackle the depression. We all feel despair sometimes, so remember that you’re not alone in feeling these things. In fact, you have the company of all of us.
So read books, listen to music — whatever makes you feel at peace, try to do a little more of it. There’s evidence that feelings of peace and serenity boost our body’s healing capabilities (including the skin), while continued stress hampers it.
Apply the healing oils daily and when you feel like giving up, remember that time will go by the same whether or not you do it, so you’re not losing anything by doing so.
I wish you all the best in your healing journey.
Much love,
Hessa
Hello Hessa, I used Skineal on my face only for a out 4 months constantly and my face was light and all looking young, fresh and bright. Just over a month ago, have started noticing Pimples and large dark spots started appearing on my face.
It’s almost as if something triggered it. My left cheek is full of dark spots and the pimples develops on the same spot after it initially dries off about two days earlier.
Have stopped using Skineal for a few days now and it’s gonna stay that way.
Presently I have the following in my possession; Simple facial wash which I use twice daily, Nivea Even and Radiant which have been using for about 4 months.
I’m happy to resume the Castor oil treatment and be patient with it, but my question is should I stop using my facial wash and Nivea cream too? What are the natural alternatives to an everyday body cream?
Thanks in anticipation
Hi Olaitan, I think it’s fine to continue using your face wash and Nivea cream. Especially since you already know they work for you.
I’m sorry to hear about what Skineal did to your skin, but I’m very glad that you’ve stopped using it already.
If you want to try an alternative body cream, you could try a shea butter- or cocoa butter-based cream like Palmer’s.
All the best,
Hessa
I have been using betasol for about 2 years & I stopped it because I was becoming too light I then use Bio clear & I noticed that my skin is different from other people.i stop using it.& Then I realised that I’m more dack on my body but very light on the face.i nevver used a cream on my face only om my body but im suprised because im more light on my face but dack on my body.my skin is itching when ever i wear tight clothes.plz help.im so depressed ????
Mine is a different ball game altogether, my skin is back to normal but my hands are lighter than my skin body and my knuckles are getting more darker in colour. pls what do I do?
Hi Samuel, to even out skin tone, try rubbing on shea butter or cocoa butter. Do this daily for at least 4 weeks and see if there’s any difference.
Good luck!
Hessa
I had a skin disorder called lycon planus, I went to the hospital and I was put on medication. I was given an injection in the affected areas that has resulted in the bleaching of that particular areas, on my legs actually. Now I’m getting worried because the bleached part doesn’t seem like it will vanish. Please what can help to reverse it?
Hi Philomena, do you know what the injection was? If it was a steroid like triamcinolone acetonide, then it might be steroid-induced hypopigmentation.
When I check online, it seems like it might take 6-30 months for this type of hypopigmentation to resolve itself.
You could try rubbing a freshly-sliced piece of ginger over the affected area, letting the juice dry on the skin and exposing your legs to some sunlight in your day-to-day routines.
Try doing this each day for a month and see if it can speed up the process of “waking up” the melanin-producing cells. It’s important to try for at least a month before deciding on whether or not there’s any results because skin cell turnover takes about 4 weeks. You could also couple the ginger juice applications with manual exfoliation some times (e.g. scrubbing or dry brushing your legs) to increase blood flow and circulation.
And try not to worry too much as it’s likely not permanent, and will resolve itself in time.
Take care,
Hessa
Sorry hessa for disturbing
Like I said I was caramel in color but I think the cream that led to this was nivea natural fairness and the black soap that gave me a dark patch
Hi is still me Alexx I am sory for the way I started writing without introduction and greetings plz I am sorry and I also forgot to say that I am caramel in color plz I need hep plz even when I was my face still red I have stopped us in creams for over 2 weeks now still no changes
I have used up to 10 creams within the space of 2 years like nivea natural fairness, dodo skin gold,Caro white,Vaseline cocoa glow,DES,and currently E45 and my skin has turned red my face covered with black patches due to black soap I rub at night that a friend advised me to
Plz I need help
Hi Alexx, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I can imagine how distressed you feel.
I’m not quite sure I understand. Did the creams you used for the past 2 years lead to the skin damage, or was it one particular cream and the black soap?
In any case, please try to see a dermatologist and show them all your creams, if possible. If there’s persistent redness and thinner skin, one of the creams you used could have contained corticosteroids.
My other suggestions:
– Stop using all creams that are formulated (i.e. has a long list of ingredients and chemicals on the label). Stick to a simple healing oil which you like that has no added ingredients, and use this daily. Use a natural soap for cleansing or one that you already know works well for you.
– Try to take small steps to get your spirit and body to a healthier and gentler place (e.g. deep breathing, meditation, reading, music). A good inner state has been proven to be supportive of healing.
– Try making some healthy dietary changes. The skin is one of our largest organs, and likewise it benefits from getting enough nutrients. Add bone broth/homemade stock to your meals if possible.
– Be patient and steady as healing oils can take time to start to show results (months and sometimes up to a year or more depending on the severity of the damage that needs healing).
– Avoid the temptation of looking for a “quick fix”. Remind yourself that this urge could have led to the skin damage now, and it’s time to do something different.
I wish the best luck, and the strongest love and support for yourself. You can do it.
Hessa

Hi, I’ve been using carotone bsc on my face for a while now so I stopped using it but since I stopped my face became darker than my other body parts, it itches me so badly and its peels, i have white head too, I look miserable, I can’t even check my face in the mirror and people have started noticing it and asking me what happened to me. I started using Shea butter in the night after washing my face with warm water but still no improvement, please help me
Hi Comfort, I’m sorry that you’re going through this. You made the right decision to stop using Carotene as it contains mercury (see link).
How long have you been applying shea butter nightly?

Hello. I have extreme damage after using Retin-A for a few weeks. It has caused indented pores on my cheeks that form major lines when I smile. The sides of my cheeks look like gravel. There are also lines of pores that connect from my nose to my lips and in various directions on my chin. I have an orange peel texture with large pores visible everywhere. My face used to be dewy and full. It is now very rough looking with all the lines and texture occurring, although it feels smooth and there are not rough patches. Has anyone else experienced this? I have been trying natural oils and have completely transformed my eating, supplements, etc. over the past 2 months. I am severely depressed over this situation. I need to find a solution with a path to follow to reverse this damage. I have been to 2 dermatologists who want to prescribe Retin-A. I had used Retin-A years ago and experienced the red/flaky typical scenario and after stopping it would completely heal and my skin would look great. As soon as it appears it may be slightly improving, I revert back to square one. Please, I need help from someone who is experienced with this type of damage I need to heal my face and know that this damage can be reversed. I have not talked to one doctor or esthetician that has seen this occur from Retin-A nor give advice on how to heal, although I have seen postings on other blogs regarding this type of occurrence, again, with no real solution to repair.
Hi Cassy, I’m very sorry this happened to you. I can imagine how sad, helpless and distressed you feel.
The good news is that you’re on the right track already with using healing oils regularly and improving your diet. But two months is very short to expect results so please do not be discouraged. Time will go by the same whether or not you keep up with your regime so you won’t lose anything by continuing with it.
The reason I mention the time needed is because it sounds like what you have is some deep damage and scarring. The orange peel texture is sometimes also seen after using lasers on the skin, so that might give you a better idea of the kind of damage there is underneath. I believe you can heal your skin from the bottom-up but it will take longer. Keep doing what you’re doing, but give it one year at least before you decide on the results. Take a clear well-lit picture of your skin every 2 months or so for your own reference and encouragement, just because it can be difficult to see changes in something that we look at every day.
I think you can achieve slow and steady true healing if you stay the course. Be kind to yourself too. It’s normal to get discouraged because we’re dealing with a hard situation. Just don’t give up.
Much love
Hessa
Hello pls how can I restore my bleached skin back in one week, because the cream spoiled my skin too much, and the cream is clinic clear, well I have stop it but I’m being embarrassed so please what can I use to recover my skin back in one week.
Hi Emmanuel, I’m sorry you’re going through this. Yes, please stop using Clinic Clear – it contains hydroquinone.
If you read the article, you might get some ideas that are helpful, but unfortunately none are quick fixes. If the cream has been used for too long, you may need to be patient with the healing and recovery. The skin is an organ just like any other, so any damage will need time to fix.
It might help if you focus on all the good things in your life as you give your skin time to heal. Easier said than done, I know, but stress and worry will not make the time go by faster. Take care of yourself and I wish you the best of luck.

Hello,
I have hyper-pigmentation on my forehead I went to the cosmetologist I was recommended the Cosmelan peel. Few days after the peel my mouth area turned red and the patch’s on my forehead still remain the same one side of my face is brighter than the other my lips are burnt black and my pupil yellowish. Please what do I do to revert back. I have used it for only 3 weeks please help.
Can I user castor oil to revert back please advise me this is my first time of using chemical on my skin in 41 years.
Hi Presh,
I’m sorry to hear about this. From what you describe, it sounds like a serious burn so please see a doctor ASAP. I’m not sure why your pupil will be yellowish, but you should inform the doctor of this also.
I can understand your distress, but the most immediate concern is your health, safety and protecting your eyes, so please take care of that first. Also I don’t know if this comforts you or not, but you are definitely not alone in having a bad outcome from a skin peel. Many people have had the same or a similar outcome.
Should there be scarring after the area has healed over, you can take steps (such as by using castor oil or other oils) to heal them over time. Healing oils are not a quick fix, but with time and patience, they can be effective.
Please take care of yourself.

Hi got a microdermabrasion in october and since then my face has gone crazy. I have enlarged pores all over my face, dryness, sensitivity, and redness. My skin looks old and crepey. Im only 21.
My pores are starting to connect and look like lines. What do I do?!
Hi Sara, I’m sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like too many layers of your skin were removed. You now have to give it time to heal slowly. There is no quick fix. Do not go for further microdermabrasion/peels/laser treatments etc. Those things will just take away more. It is time for rebuilding, not breaking things down.
Start using a healing oil every day and keep it up for a few months at least. I would suggest applying it before bed at night. After a few months, if you see some positive changes, keep using it for several months to a year. If you have scarring, healing may take more time.
In the meantime, support your internal health by taking probiotics (e.g. homemade kombucha, homemade yogurt) and Vitamin C regularly. Eat more fruits and veggies. Don’t smoke or drink. Sleep and rest when you’re tired. The healthier you are, the better and faster your skin will heal.
Hope that helps.

I used a whitening cream, and I started having dark pores and pimples and now it has spread all over, my face has some red patches. I have stopped but the patches are still there and it hurts too. Please what cream can I use to heal he places and clear the dark spot. Pls, it’s becoming embarrassing!
I had microdermabrasion about 20 years ago. It should never be done on the faces of people with thin radiant skin. I’ll give your the good and bad news. I realized immediately that my skin had been badly damaged and that is should no longer be exposed to the constant sunlight on the beach in Southern California where I live. At first I wore a cloth old fashioned prairie bonnet that I could fold into a purse. Of course, that is completely out of style — but as a 21 year old, maybe it would look pretty and trendy on you. They are easy to make out of flowered fabric, or probably bought cheaply on eBay. Then, after 3 years, I realized I could wear a classic simple tan Safari hat. This looked less strange. I kept a second hat in the car and wear it always when I go out. The good news is that wearing this hat eventually meant I never got any more skin damage. My skin healed somewhat. Now I look about twenty years younger than other females in the area who are my age. They have sun spots/age spots. The sun will create this sun spot damage underneath your upper skin and in a few years it will be permanent. (I also used an excellent laser doctor on spots on my face many years ago — but this is not so good in the long run — if you’re under 40, you can try removing just a tiny bad spot here and there on your face, otherwise you’re doing too much damage and the spot will come back.) Avoiding all sun spots is amazing. Women in the 19th century realized this, so they wore gloves and bonnets (even in England which wasn’t too sunny then). About five year ago I also began wearing really long sleeves that cover my hands down to the fingers. This means no spots on my hands. I also use extra virgin olive oil on my hands (most olive oil in the super market is fake). As a result, no aging hands. I can still wear beautiful rings. It’s important that you protect your hands so they remain youthful and delicate, or even if you protect your face, your hands will give you away. It’s also important to protect your throat and cleavage area from sunlight (otherwise you get ugly spots and crepe skin). I wore a bikini at the beach until age 60. At age 35, however, I began wearing a shirt most of the time that had the top button closed to protect my upper throat and breasts. I could reveal them a little for a few moments before reclosing the top of the shirt. It used to drive young guys nuts to see a woman taking off a man’s shirt while in the water, or the wet shirt clinging to my bikini. Men like the “reveal.” Two years ago, much to my shock, a young handsome blonde blue eyed lifeguard tried to pick me up. Consider yourself lucky to learn about skin damage and the tricks to protect it early enough in life.
I used a cream and it bleached my face making it black n white I have to drop out from school for some times is there anyway I can hasten it in a week

Hi I Am A Black 16 Year Old Teenager and I Was Introduced To A Bleaching Cream Called Extra Claire By A Friend When I Was 15. I Used It For Quite A While And I Became Lighter From A Darker Complexion. So I Stopped Now And I Am Starting To Get Very Dark And Its Not Good, What Do I Do Pls Help Me.
Go to a dermatologist to analyse your skin asap!!!
Also put castor oil on affected areas in the meantime
Travis i also used Extra clair cream on my face for three years from the age of 12 years to 15 yeas. I got tired of it and used bio oil but castor oil can also help. It will take time to heal but patients is what u need to heal. Good luck!
I am just finding this site and realised the real reason for the bad breakouts I have been having. I wish I knew all these would have rejected the tube cream my friend made me to use now I have bad rashes, itching and pimples. Will just use shea butter at night till I get my real skin back no matter how long it takes.
I also used GOREE CREAM sometime in April this year, and after a month of using it my face complexion lightened and it was really smooth. Others started to noticed the great difference.
But as I started to experience a burning like sensation I stopped using it. That’s the time my nightmare begins. Pimples (huge and dark seems like burned), black heads and white heads started to surfaced on my skin which really depressing.

buy ponds normal to oily skin apply in da morning and buy tissue oil from pep apply it at night I promise u results are amazing I also had da same problem after using lighting cream
Tissue oil?
Not 100% sure, but I believe tissue oil is a term that’s more used in Africa, and refers to oils that contain plants with some medicinal properties. Simply put, tissue oil is skincare oil.

Hello, those complaining about acne and pimples can try mixing 1 tsp of cinnamon powder, a drop of castor oil and 2 tsps of honey. Mix thoroughly and apply on your face for about 30 mins then wash off with cold water. Do this about 2-3 times in a week. Do make sure to apply any of the oils mentioned in the article above after washing your face to moisturize.
I am having the same problem I was using carotone dark spot corrector for about 4_5 days but it made my fade too reddish and I stopped using it and it doesn’t want to clear off my skin I’m now using coconut oil lemon juice and castor oil plus serum
I used lemon and turmeric on my pigmented area on face. Day before this i used goree cream which i used for the 1st time for pigmentation on night. my pigmented area become darker n my skin is luking like burnt . Its luking so weird i am so depressed by this please suggest me What should i do to recover . ????
Hi puja, I’m sorry to hear about this. You probably didn’t realise it, but Goree contains mercury. The best thing to do is throw it away.
You could try a deep healing oil on your skin for a few months and see if that can help fade the hyperpigmentation. This is not a quick fix so patience is needed.
Good luck.

I hope the alkaline diet and castor oil can really help.
Your skin is damaged, using lemon is great for discoloration on healthy skin, but it will only irritate damaged skin. Use oils as stated in the article, your skin needs to heal. Only use natural products, not creams etc.
Hi I have been bleaching for 5 years and now I have an outstanding itching all over my body what can I do?

Use African black soap to bath, and apply carrot oil, avocado oil, olive oil, or coconut oil on your skin daily. Your skin will return to normal.
